Wonderful Ewe Time at the SCV Fine Crafts Show

Thank you to all the wonderful Lovely Ewe customers who stopped by our booth at the SCV Fine Crafts Show. We had a great time with lots of new, fun items. I'd especially like to thank Cliff Robertson, Marilyn Moss and Bob Lade, who helped to make our weekend a great success! Here are a couple of booth pictures:

It seems that the shrugs and capelets caught everyone's eye, so I'll be making more of those for the next show, and they will be on sale on the website, too. In the next few weeks, I'll be adding all the new items that are still available to the website, so if you missed the show, you can still buy soe beautiful Lovely Ewe items.

So, what's new on the horizon? Well, I've never tried Fair Isle knitting, which looks really beautiful. So, I'll be finding some new patterns to try out and they will be available in time for Holiday shopping. I'm also interested in Intarsia knitting, or picture knitting, where a picture is knitted into the garment. I'll also be crocheting more blankets in time for Holiday shopping. Looking forward to exporing new worlds of crafting. Hope you'll drop by the site and check them out as they're posted.

Something New in Ewe

I've been so busy working on new projects in preparation for the SCV Fine Crafts Show in June at Old Orchard Park in Newhall. I'm hoping to get pictures of all these great new items on the website soon. I've also decided to create a new page on the website for knitter where I will be selling patterns I've designed for downloading to your computer.

Besides creating lovely new items, I also teach knitting and crocheting. If you'd like to learn to make your own one-of-a-kind hand knit or crochet items, I'm available for individual or group lessons. Just email me for more details.

I have been finding some beautiful hand dyed yarns for some new sweaters I'm working on. The colors are magnificent. I've also dyed some yarn on my own and am looking forward to making some interesting new pieces.

Be sure to check back regularly as we continue to update the site. Also, if you have any feedback, I'd love to hear it!

Changes in Ewe

Lovely Ewe has sold a lot of one-of-a-kind, handmade items this year and has added quite a few, too. Unfortunately, we haven't been very good at keeping the website up-to-date. So, we're overhauling the Lovely Ewe site and making some changes, too.

If you are interested in purchasing an item, there will be no link for a while. We ask that you email us at robertsonclan91350@sbcglobal.net to let us know what you'd like to purchase. We will send you a Paypal invoice, and once that is paid, we will ship your item to you. We will be using Priority Mail for most items and can only let you know what your shipping costs will be after we package your items for mailing and weigh the box. We were finding that with Etsy.com we were either charging too much for shipping or too little. This way, we will only charge you for the exact amount to ship your package.

Eventually, we will have an easier way to checkout online. We are also hoping to take credit card payments in the near future to allow for more payment options and to possibly avoid having to use Paypal.

So much is in the works. I hope you think of Lovely Ewe when you're doing your holiday shopping. I have been knitting away and am trying to keep as many items available as I possibly can, in a wide range of prices. Hope your holidays are happy ones! - Julie Robertson, Owner/Designer

Where have Ewe been???

Alas, my blogging is as bad as my journal writing - forgotten all too often. It was a very busy summer with the kids and I've also been busy working on new items and participating with a couple of new knitting groups. Lately I've mostly been sewing; I am starting a new line of "design your own" purses. I am in the process of making several different styles in different fabrics. My new "purse/bag" website will be www.mommasnewbag.com, or Momma's New Bag. A customer can go to the website and choose a purse/bag from several different styles, then choose your fabric from many different swatches. The bag will be made to order. You can even personalize your bag with your name or initials, embriodered on the front. I'm super excited about this new line of handmade items, and I hope you will be, too. I will be emailing anouncements when Momma's New Bag is up and running. Until then, I am in front of the sewing machine every day making many sample bags. I'm still knitting and crocheting, and more items will be posted on Lovely Ewe within the next few weeks. Remember, Christmas is only 4 months away. What's New with Ewe

I've completed two scarf/shawls and three hats. One of my kids took one of the hats, but I will be posting the other two soon, and the scarf/shawls. What's a scarf/shawl you ask? It's a very long, very wide scarf that can double as a shoulder wrap. I should have them posted on the site next week.

Currently, I am working on a beautiful sweater that was special ordered for Mother's Day. I will have pictures of the sweater posted on www.ravelry.com, my name of ravelry is Uniquely Ewe. I'll have a link on this site for those of you who'd like to see it. I'm loving this sweater so much, I may have to make another one (in a different color of course) to sell on my site.

I am looking into some craft shows in the fall to sell my items at. I will email everyone to let you know where and when.

Moderne Jacket is finished!

In my last blog I mention the crochet along I got involved with on www.ravelry.com and www.lionsbrand.com . Well, the jacket is finished and looks great. I used a beautiful yarn by Nashua Handknits called "Ivy" in a blue teal. It's an alpaca/merino blend and has small silver threads throughout. I used some fancy silver buttons on the jacket to dress it up a bit. The sleeves are 3/4 length and the jacket is hip length. I made it in a size Medium and Gwynn modeled it for the website. The jacket is available for purchase through www.etsy.com and there will be a link on this website to etsy for purchasing the jacket, or just checking out the other pictures.

I've also listed the Cascade Scarf and the Bluebell Beret. (I've been a busy little bee.) Currently, I am working on a sleeveless shell in a hand dyed blend yarn. I have many other projects in the works, and my goal for this year is to finish them all up.

Later this year, I will be introducing hand made aprons. I will have a variety of styles, but mostly vintage patterns since they are so pretty. All of my aprons will be made with pre-shrunk 100% cotton fabrics.

What's new on the horizon?

I'm really excited because I just joined my first Crochet Along with Lion Brand Yarn. Lion Brand introduced the CAL in the beginning of the month on their website, www.lionbrand.com , and being the slow poke that I am, I just got on board yesterday. We are crocheting a jacket with midlength sleeves, called the "Moderne Jacket" The pattern calls for two kinds of Lions Brand yarn: Wool-Ease and Cashmere Blend. Never the one to go along with the crowd, I rummaged through my huge stash of yarn (see earlier blog regarding my huge stash) and found a beautiful Alpaca/Merino blend in Blue Teal that has a slight silver thread running through it. The yarn is super soft and I am moving along nicely through the pattern. Each member of the CAL group follow along through blogging on www.ravelry.com, and if you'd like to see what the jacket will look like, you can visit either of these sites for a picture. Naturally, I will be selling the jacket on Lovely Ewe as soon as it is completed. Unfortunatey, all of my other projects are on hold as I try to finish this project with the group. Wish me luck! Hello, Dolly!!

Even though I have the best people to model my homemade fashions (friends and family) there are times when I need a model that can always be there when I need her. I recently purchased a dress form manikin than can change sizes faster than a Biggest Loser contestant. I named her “Dolly”, and she goes from a size Medium to a Large, the sizes of average women. I will still try to use live models when I can, but I get my items online faster with Dolly. Please remember that everyone is shaped differently, and my handmade items will appear different on each person. Crochet items, especially, tend to drape to your form and will be narrower and longer on a smaller person.

Hello, Everyone! I'm still knitting and crocheting away on new projects. I've just finished a beautiful entrelac shrug made with hand dyed chenille and a merino and cashmere blend. It's super soft and just beautiful. I just need to get a model for my pictures and get it posted. I also should be posting more of my jewelry, including more necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

I also just added a new section to the blog page for all of you who knit or crochet, or those who want to start. It's a list of links to sites with free patterns. I'm sure I don't even have every site there is, but I have quite a few and you should be able to find what you're looking for.
